Close your eyes.
Can you see yourself in 10 years from now?
Where are you financially?
What goals have you reached in that time?
In order to have that 10 year vision, we need to set goals, we need to make a plan.
My friend Moshe Teitelbaum from SHTAR introduced me to this concept of 10,5,3,1.
The concept is to ask hirees these questions:
“Where do you see yourself in 10 years?”
“Where do you need to be in five years in order to reach the 10 year goal?”
“Where do you need to be in 3 years to be on track?”
“What are you doing this year, this month, this week towards that goal?”
THIS week’s effort eventually goes towards the bigger 10 year goal!
There is so much stuff and challenges going on, that people tend to jump to different jobs.
That’s why it is so important to keep on track and remember the 10 year goal.
It’s okay to change the monthly goal, as long as it’s still on the path of the 10 year goal!
It’s important to constantly check in on employees to see if the goal is still ‘talking to them’.
As people perfect themselves and change, the goal might get bigger/smaller/different.
This exercise is a great tool to keep them on track.
